Mancat Monday

I am a furocious mancat...hear me ROAR!

Lip smackin' good.

Seriously, Minchie isn't roaring in these pictures. He's meowing. Mom says he does that a LOT!

Easy like Sunday morning

I am wiped out from our overnight company! Being my usual scairty cat self I was busy all Saturday running like a lightening bolt from under the couch in the living room to under the bed in the bedroom and visa versa. All they could see of me were blurs of gray and white speeding by. But when it calmed down finally at 2:20 in the morning I was able to safely come out and eat, get a drink and use the potty.

Minchie pictures!!!

Mom can't get over how he just lets anyone do anything to him on first meeting.

He has the longest whiskers she's ever seen on a kitty.

It looks like he has a Davey Crockett tail

Our handsome mancat.

Mom was combing him and brought his furs home to me to get use to the smell of him. He smells furry interesting!

Instead of going to foster mom Sue's house last night, she brought him to the shelter while she worked and set him, mom and auntie Shannon up in a cat room. They could hear him "talking" from the door of the cat area. Everyone was commenting on the loud cat back there. Hahaha! Mom is furry use to loud talkers since Cerise was and I am. But Minchie Meow wins the prize! He just has a lot to say. She and auntie took a gazillion pictures and it was so hard because he moves around so much. They were even on the floor with him. Both were just covered in his nervous hair. They were getting along so well foster mom Sue said she thought he could come home right away and mom was going to until auntie reminded her we are having out of town guests come tomorrow for the weekend. That would not have worked!!!
8 MORE DAYS (OR MAYBE LESS)!!!

Snoopervising

Here I am snoopervising the landscapers making sure they do a good job cutting the green grass to my satisfaction.

Mom goes tonight to visit my brofur, Minchie Meow, and give foster mom, Sue, green papers and fill out the paperwork so he can be all mine! She bought him a very cool scratching post to have so when he comes to his forever home he'll have something he knows and will know where to sharpen those toesies.

9 MORE DAYS!!!

Thankful Thursday

I am furry thankful that mom has found what she thinks is the best brofur for me. I am thankful too that we are giving Minchie Meow a wonderful, forever home. I wish I could close my eyes and open them and he would be here!

10 MORE DAYS!!!

Waiting Wednesday

Well, I have 11 days until I get to meet my new brofur, Minchie Meow!!! I can't wait! I think I'll wait here by the door for him. Oh, yeah, Mom said this isn't the door he'll be coming through, but at least it's a door I can look out. teeheehee!

Mom is going to foster mom Sue's house Friday after Sue is finished volunteering at Buddy and will drop off a check and this time she'll remember the camera. Can you believe she forgot to bring it Monday! The scrapbookaholic forgetting a camera! Mom is going to go out and buy him a couple of scratching posts to use now and take them with her Friday so that when he comes "home" he'll have something familiar and will know where to sharpen those nails.

Sue said when Mom left Monday she was telling Minchie that he just met his new forever Mom and just knew she'd be calling back to say yes. She is furry excited! I just hope I can wait that long to meet him! I'm so excited! I will be a furry busy girl showing him the ropes here and making him feel welcome.

I think it's a done deal!!!

Well, Mom and I had a very long talk last night about her going to meet Minchie Meow. She wanted to sleep on it first, but I have a feeling she's going to be calling my foster Mom, Sue, today to tell her we want to adopt Minchie. He is a very handsome mancat!

When Mom first walked into his room he couldn't take his eyes off Mom. After a few minutes he came over to her, sniffed her and immediately started rubbing his head on her legs. That's a good sign! He even let her pick him up! He's silkie soft like me and a little longer haired than me. He is quite the talker, which is common in the Turkish Angora. I'm quite the talker too so I think Mom will be having to get some ear plugs. Since Sue knows me pretty well and now Minchie she thinks he's the best suited for me. He's very laid back and nothing seems to bother him. He checked out fine at the vet. He gets along very well with the other fosters Sue has so she knows he and I will get along famously. They don't know his exact age, but guess he's 4. Mom will go back to Sue's this week and give her a check and visit again just to make sure. Sue will cat sit for him until Mom can go pick him up, the earliest being the evening of July 5 because she is dog sitting at Rickie's house for 4 days. She wants to wait until she's home for good before introducing us.

I'm so excited and can't wait! It's been many, many years since Mom had a mancat. And of course she won't be changing his name because he's had it for a long time.

Meet Minchie Meow

Mom just got a call from my foster mom, Sue, and was telling her about a Turkish Angora named Minchie Meow. Just for the heck of it she did a google search and found his catster page!!! Isn't he gorgeous! A mancat! Mom is going to Sue's tonight to meet him and see if he would be a match for me. He's 4 years old, been neutered and comes with his own carrier and toys. His owner is being transferred out of the country. Mom can't take a kitty home until after the 4th of July holiday as she'll be away dog sitting but Momma Sue said she'd cat sit for us until it's time. Stay tuned!

I luvs my mattress

I luvs laying on the cool silky nakid mattress.
Mom lets me lay here for as long as I want before she puts the sheets back on. Thanks Mom!

Rest in Peace Sweet Naughty Norman

We just got an email from our very good friend Liz that her Naughty Norman went to the Rainbow Bridge today. We are just devastated by this news. We will never forget the day he was born. We know his daddy, Orion, was there to greet him at the Bridge. And our Cerise and Lilly too.

Naughty Norman was always quite the naughty one.

Naughty Norman with his sister, Binky Bumpus, who was named after our Binky Baby.

Meet Brutus

At the open house yesterday Mom was talking to her friend and volunteer at Buddy, Evie. Evie told her about Brutus, a 2 year old boy that had to be given back to Buddy because his daddy got transferred to South America and can't take him. Because there was so many people in and out he was very scairt and hid behind his way cool colorful cat bed. Mom is going to go back later in the week to meet him one on one and see if he may like to live with me. He didn't live with any other kitties but did have human kids he loved to play with. Mom's main concern is that he gets along with other kitties. He sort of looks like me only where I'm gray, he's black. And he has a pink nose and Momma loves pink noses! We'll see!

Sniffin, open house and a meme

To Mom's surprise, one day she found me behind the couch where my sister, Lilly, use to hang a lot. I thought if I closed my eyes and sniffed all over real hard she would come back to me. So far she's still MIA.

Mom is going to the open house today of the brand new shelter The Buddy Foundation finally got built. That is where she adopted me from. She says eventually my new brother/sister will come from there. She's going to scout out who is there now see if our brick has been laid that we bought.

My sister Pumuckl has tagged me for a Meme!

Rules:
1.be honest
2.tag other people
3. have fun!

What is your name? Laila Ali, Laila for short. I was named after Laila Ali from when she was on "Dancing With the Stars". She was mom's favorite and is so beautiful.

If you could change your name what would it be? I luvs my name! I wouldn't change it.

What is your pet's name? Mommie

If you could change your pet's name what would it be? I wouldn't

What is your brother or sister's name? It was Lilly. My sister left me for the Bridge on June 5th. I miss her very much and am so lonely. Mom has promised me she will find me another sister or brother soon.

If you could change their name what would it be? I wouldn't. Lilly and Laila sounded so cool. We use to laugh at Mom because she would get "tongue tied" and call us by our wrong name some times. teeheehee!

We aren't going to tag anyone for this meme so if anyone wants to do it, please feel free! It as a fun meme!

Feather Friday

So, what do you think of my feather hat? It can't compare to Daisy's fabulous fashions, but I think I look cute.

Thankful Thursday

Auntie Holly and the catstreetboyz sent this beautiful silk lily and card yesterday. The kitty on the card looks just like my sister!

Mom has a little shrine in the bedroom for Binky Baby, one who came before, and thought it would be nice to keep Lilly's lilies there. Binky Baby and Lilly were sisters and great friends. Auntie Holly also sent us the collector plate on the wall. She is such a cat angel! We are so glad she and the boyz are our friends.

And they sent me this way cool pyramid cat bed! I was very busy sniffing it out and could smell lots of kitty and doggie smells on it.

Here I am checking out the pouch on the side with nip in it! I also got a bunch of way cool toys too! Thank you Auntie Holly and all the boyz for always being there for us and helping us through these hard times. One of these days we ARE going to meet in person!

Cerise left for the Bridge a year ago

This is my sister, Cerise, who I never knew. She was the sister of Lilly who lived together for a very long time. She was 17 1/2 when she went to the Bridge. Momma's heart is still broken from losing her.

Mom loved to dress Cerise up in silly things and she was so sweet to let her.

I have a very big job right now for such a little girl. All those pieces of Momma's heart that I'm trying to pick up. But Momma says I'm doing an excellent job. Tonight we will light a candle in Cerise's memory.

Peachy Tuesday

Let's see what's in here.

I bug Momma so much when she opens one of these little cans that one day she "caved" and cut up a few morsels for me to try. LOVE IT! She never heard of a kitty who loves peaches.

Double rainbow!

Last night at 7:45 pm CDT there appeared a double rainbow here in the Chicago suburbs! I'm convinced the first one was our Lilly getting ready to help Kali across and, lo and behold, the second one appeared to the left of it, Kali crossing with her paw in paw.

Wishing all Fathers, Dads, Grandpas, Uncles and Awesome Mans a very special day!

Meet Loetje

Loetje

Our very good friends from The Netherlands, Katja, Fafnir and Snuitje have "adopted" a new kitty. Here is what Auntie Katja wrote:

The picture shows Loetje (formerly known as Kareltje) whom I had neutered last friday. He was given 'a clean bill of health' by the vet (FIV/FeLV tested and negative !), had him vaccinated also because I hoped he would accept 'shelter' inside when it gets colder again (in a few months)....... Well, that went differently as planned: the night before and after his operation I had him locked in in the bathroom, but the next day I put him outside again (it's beautiful weather) and he refused to leave, sat the whole day meowing in front of my window.... Of course I fed and petted him, but left him outside during the night. The same the next day and the day after. He only left the garden for a few short walks and in the night he slept under/in a car because tuesday his coat was full of engine oil again...so yesterday after work I let him in again and he stayed the night. He is lying in my lap at the moment :) Faffie doesn't mind much but Snuitje is very scared of him...so I feel a bit guilty towards her. But I have the feeling it's going ro work out okay. Though I don't plan to leave them together when I'm not there yet: today I had the day off, but tomorrow when I leave for work he has to stay outside for the day.

We are purraying that Loetje gets to become a permanent member of their family!

My favorite toy at the moment

Mom gets mad at me as I've stopped playing with cat toys. But the other day she wadded up this piece of paper and threw it and I've been chasing and playing hockey with it ever since.

Meanwhile my overflowing toy box sits there gathering dust.

For those of you who heard Chicago was having terrible storms and tornadoes yesterday, we are fine and so is Sophie. They were 60 miles south of us but if the line had been any further north, it would have affected us. Our Mom gets very scairt when tornadoes are around (which thankfully we don't see very often) as she's a tornado survivor. She used to live in Kansas City, MO and lost her house to one when she was a little girl. Here's a picture of that house. Of course it had to be torn down and rebuilt.
