Roomba recognizes my car now
I saw him sitting by the front door of the building this morning as I started to slow down to pull into the driveway to the parking lot. Something caught my eye on the side of the building so walked over to see what it was and I heard mewing so I mewed back and it was him! Little bugger was letting me know to get my butt inside quick and get his breakfast served up...PRONTO!

This beautiful girl needs a home
Received this email today. This is in the Chicago area if anyone is interested or knows of anyone.
HELP ME! Due to unfortunate circumstances, I need to find my cat, Abby, a new home. I want her to go to a good and loving home where she will not be alone during the day as much as she is at my house.
Since Abby is home alone at lot, she grown to be destructive with some of our belongings (esp. Nelson's stuff). She has chewed several pairs of shoe laces, many drawstrings, the phone cord twice and a couple of headphone cords. Nelson has had it!
I know she is just bored, but getting a companion cat is out of the question. She needs to be around at least one other human or another cat that may be willing to share a home.
She is playful, friendly and, of course, beautiful. She is a Maine Coon breed(10-12 lbs), medium hair brown-striped tabby color. I will include her shot records and vet visits, feeding dishes, litter box with litter, grooming supplies and toys. She also has a PetTrac microchip.
I really love her and I wish things were different which is why I am trusting you guys to help me find the perfect home for her. I refuse to send her to a shelter because you never know what will happen to animals left for several days/weeks.
Please help Abby find a new home. Pics attached.

Thinking of you today, Pop!
What a difference 4 months makes!
One day last January we had a blizzard during the week and we closed the office. The next day I went out to feed Roomba and Hoover and found they'd been snowed in their "home" by all the huge drifting. Went back to the warehouse and got a shovel and literally dug them out! Within minutes they were dining on their daily breakfast. Poor babies!

Cicada patrol
Roomba has been spending a lot of time sitting near one of the big trees at work waiting for the arrival of the cicadas. Now they aren't due until this weekend or later. Guess the ground hasn't been warm enough for them to start their upward journey. Will be fun watching Roomba play with them...and probably snacking on them. Eee-uuu!

Meet Gudrun
The friends I stayed with this past weekend in Kansas City have a cat who is almost the twin of Lilly. Her name is Gudrun and even their purrsonalities are somewhat alike. Lilly is much older and moves a little slower now, but this picture is frightening as to how much they look alike! What a sweatheart of a "little" girl! Sure do miss her!

Leaving on a jet plane
I'll be flying to Kansas City, MO tomorrow at 8:10 a.m. to go back "home" until Sunday night. Attending the 50th anniversary reunion of the May 20, 1957 Ruskin Heights Tornado that my sister and I are survivors of. Our house didn't fair so well. Cerise and Lilly will be in the very capable hands of their Auntie Dee. Keep your fingers and paws crossed we will have good weather while in the tornado belt!

The "Miracle Kitty" visits Dr. March
Took Cerise in last Saturday for her pre-boarding check up. Her levels are so-so and because of this we still can't give her any annual shots, therefore, when I go to Ireland in 25 days (!!!) she will have to be in isolation. I now have to give her 100 ml of subq fluids daily. So far she is being such a good girl and tolerating the double fluids. Lilly will be in her luxury kitty condo, photo attached. It's a double sided condo so she won't get claustrophobic. We did have to check to be sure she can get through the hole to the other side where her litter box will be. LOL

Meet cousin Gizmo
Every time I go to my sister's I tell Gizmo how lucky he is because if it weren't for me, he'd have been coyote food. He and his two brothers we rescued in a field behind our office and eventually my sister adopted him. He was only four weeks old at the time. We almost kept him for an office cat but one gal is highly allergic to cats.

Momma trained him well
Eureka, the mom of Roomba, was just here eating and little Roomba was so cute. He just stood there, eventually laying down next to her waiting his turn at the bowl. Wouldn't you know I'd forget the camera today! They both have a burr on their back ends I'm dying to comb out...but we know that will never happen. Hopefully they will eventually take care of it themselves.

Our hearts are breaking
Our good friend, Liz, from Goofy Kitties just emailed me some very sad news about her Orion. He is the daddy of all the kittens that are so famous on her website.
From Liz:
"My Orion passed away yesterday. He's been gone for a couple days but we didn't worry, he had a habit of wandering. He wandered into a non cat lovers yard and they shot him. he limped home yesterday but he just had too many wounds, and passed away before we could get him to the vets.. My heart is breaking!"
Please keep Liz and her family in your prayers and thoughts as they try to cope with this loss. We will be lighting a special candle for dear Orion tonight and the rest of the week to help guide him on his journey over the Bridge.

I think I'm a Cat Whisperer
I actually got little Roomba to come out of the bushes this morning and took picture as he was walking around. I'll post them later. Soon I'll be petting him...I hope! After he chowed down, momma, Eureka, came for her fill. Then he came back again and I got as far as the second door, meowing all the way, before he took off. I really think he's starting to trust me. Finally! After over 6 months!

Finally a toy Lilly will play with!
Considering we have a toy box overflowing with toys that never get touched, I was so happy when I bought this and Lilly started "playing" with it. For a senior girl at age 15 1/2, she still has it in her! Not like in her kitten days, but at least it amuses her for a bit a few times a day...and me too!

Roomba came out of the bushes!
At work when I went out to put the food out for the ferals, little Roomba was in his usual hiding place in the bushes. As soon as I came through the door starting my meow-talk to him and of course he answered. To my shock, he actually came out of the bushes and was rubbing on the dirt and the branches for a few seconds then went back into the safety of the bushes. Maybe after all these months, I'll finally be able to get him to come to me so I'll actually be able to pet him! How exciting! Made my day!
