Thankful Thursday

This is our most favorite game we play! We take turns chasing each other through our tunnel. Sometimes we hide inside and attack too. Mom likes it because she can move it all over for us and fold it up when company comes. She's even thinking about adding on to it.

Toosday Toosome

Laila: Hey, we both fit up here!
Minchie: Great! I came up here for some peace and quiet.

Laila: What's that?
Minchie: Oh, that's mom with that flashy box trying to get us to look up.

Laila: Okay, mom, we'll cooperate.
Minchie: Moms and their flashy boxes!

Easy like Sunday morning

This is the infamous red blankie that our sister Lilly claimed as hers. Mom has it very appropriately folded up on Lilly's shelf waiting for the cold weather to bring it out again. One day mom left the closet door open and you can just guess what happened next!

Seeing these closeups of this closet has made mom determined to get them painted. She didn't realize how awful they look. But when they are stuffed to the max you don't see how bad they are.

I am such a good Mancat

Mom is so happy and proud of me that I am sharpening my nails in all the right places here. This little one story condo gets moved around a little when I do my sharpening here because I am such a strong Mancat. So far Mom has no scratches from me! She is very happy!

Surfin' the web

This is where I like to sit and snoopervise mom when she types our blog for us.

I'm very good at balancing. Just like I am here.

The second mom gets up from the chair Minchie takes over keeping it warm for her.

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for being adopted by momma and having all these wonderful cat toys to play with. This is my magic carpet. Anyone want to join me on a magic carpet ride?

I too am thankful for being adopted by momma and having all these wonderful cat toys to play with. This is my flying saucer. Anyone want to join me on a flying saucer ride?

Toesies Tuesday

Minchie here. One day mom couldn't find me and was looking in all my usual hiding spots. Then she walked into the bedroom and the gig was up! Next time I'll have to remember to tuck them in!

Mom is on poop patrol. I go to meet Dr. Mindy today at 11:30 for the first time and she's been doing everything to get me to poop. We've been playing until I fall down with exhaustion trying to stir some poopies up in my innerds! I did one yesterday morning and typically I just do da poopies every other day. I guess she'll have to take the next batch in whenever they appear at a later date.

Mancat Monday

Mom did not adopt me (remember, I adopted her!) because I fit in beautifully with her color scheme.

Standing room only

What is this crazy little sister of mine thinking? She scaled the tree faster than mom could blink her eyes.

What we older mancat brothers have to put up with!

Laila finally realized we both can't fit up here. This is where I come for some peace and quiet.

Rainy Day Saturday

We heard that between 6:30pm and 8:45pm last night we got like 3.5 inches of rain! Mom said she never saw it rain that hard for so long. And it's still raining! Our flowers got drownded!

So, Laila and I are just gonna hang on the cat tree today. We have to rest up because our auntie is coming over later after she picks mom up and they have one of their "seester days". Woohoo!

Keeping cool in Chi Town

My sister, Laila, is alway hogging the cool bathroom sink. But mom insists I'm too big to fit in it.

We luvs you mom!

Thankful Thursday

And let there be a goodly share
on every food tray everywhere.

Mom is finding out more and more about me from emailing back and forth with my dad. Here is the latest scoop:

"When I decided on giving up Minchie due to work, I started asking friends and around if i can find someone I can trust to give Minchie. I also contacted PAWS Chicago. My brother offered to take him but Minchie was having a hard time with a dog in the house. I had few other prospects before I considered the shelter option but none of them went through. PAWS did not respond to me for weeks. I had to move out from my apartment and had a temporary living arrangement before I leave the country and could not take Minchie with me. This is the time he stayed with my brother. I had to find a no-kill shelter where also they screen people thoroughly who wants to adopt. I had to make sure he would go to someone who knows about cats and cherish them. Since I did not hear from PAWS, I have searched for other no kill shelters. I came across Second Chance Shelter. I wrote them a lengthy email, explaining my situation. I got a response back in few days from a very nice lady and she asked me to provide more information about Minchie and she will send it to Pure Bred Rescue places and other no kill shelters. We emailed each other back and forth and one morning I got a call from Mary from Buddy Foundation. She said that they have just finished building a no kill shelter and might be able to take Mr. Minchie. That is the story. I think he never made it to the shelter.I am planning to stop by at Buddy Foundation shelter and get some of the stuff on their wish list for the new shelter before I leave end of this month. Today is my birthday. Since I did not know when Minchie's birthday was I thought my birthday can be his birthday too. So he might ask you for a birthday belly rub tonight. :)"

Mom was just going to have my adoption day, July 6, be my birthday, but I want to keep it the same day as my dad's! Mom thinks this is so cool and of course agreed right away! So, yesterday was my birthday and she is saying I am 4 years young. Every day is special here so it's hard to beat them with a special birthday day! I luvs it here!!!

And my dad will always be my dad no matter how far apart we are. I know I have a special place in his heart for just me and it will be there until forever. But now I have a new forever great home and a great mom and sister who I luvs just as much as my dad! I am one, very thankful mancat!

Minchie's favorite game

This game is called "mousies falling from the bedroom ceiling". Mom's camera takes awful videos so we apologise for how bad it is but you can get the idea. Laila just likes to lay on the floor and be entertained.

Tummy Tuesday

Mom is so happy both of us loves to have our tummies rubbed, petted, combed and kissed.

Mancat tummy.

Girlcat tummy.

Through the vastness of the internets and it being such a small world, my former cat slave has found us! Mom has been emailing with him getting the scoop on me. I miss him very much but sometimes a kitty just can't go when a big move is involved. I will miss him very much but just want him to know I have a very excellent home again and that he can keep up with me and my new life here on our blog. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of me dad! Please drop in whenever you like and comment, okay? You will never be forgotten.

I proclaim Minchie Meow to be King of the house! Well, for Mancat Mondays anyway!

Easy like Sunday morning

Mom says I'm the biggest kitty who ever laid on the couch. I can see why she is such a fan of Lazy Boy furniture!

Mom also thinks Laila and I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. After I ate my stinky goodness we started jockeying for the alpha kitty spot (I guess) and were boxing and chasing each other at lightening speeds. Mom kept following us to make sure no one got hurted. Then Laila went under the couch for a little bit but then came back out and it's like nothing happened.

A very special thanks to Ann at Zoolatry for designing these two furry cool graphic of me in all my studly mancatness. I will treasure these forever! Thank you so much for doing this for us!!!

Me and my blog

Here I am getting caught up reading our blog from before I came.

Mom set up the tunnel last night and Laila has been teaching me how to play with it. It's so much fun!!! We zoom through it chasing each other and hide from each other in it. It's hard for mom to get a picture because we are just too fast for the flashy box.

We think we found someone on the internets who knew my previous owner who had to give me up. He became good friends with Minchie's owner over the internet, and the owner spoke often and lovingly about Minchie. It broke his heart giving him up. The friend said it is heart warming to see that Minchie has found a new and loving home. We hope this friend will become a regular visitor to our blog and maybe can tell my previous owner about it. Small world!!!

Cabinet climbing

My brofur has gone somewhere I never have! He is so brave to scale up to the top of the kitchen cabinets! I've never even been on the counters. Mom has never kept anything up there because my sisters that "came before me" all use to go up there all the time. Maybe Minchie can teach me first how to get up to the counter. Baby steps...
We are getting along much better every day. I'm the one instigating the playing but am met with some hisses once in a while still. Mom is going to leave us out together all day while she is at her work. She feels very confident we'll be fine.

First play "date"

Here is a picture of Minchie and I resting on the cool bathroom floor after our first play "date". The three of us were playing "mousies falling from the bedroom ceiling" on the bed when all of a sudden Minchie and I decided to start practising the thundering herd of elephants. We did very well. Mom was standing there in utter disbelief laughing, SQUEEING, and had tears in her eyes and goosebumps she was so excited we were playing together. What really blew her mind (what little she has left...teeheehee!) was when we laid this close to each other after. This seems to be the beginning of the turning point for us! We have never seen a cat run as fast as Minchie can!!! He could definitely be in the Cat Olympics! Mom said she also did not know I could run as fast as I did. We feel sorry for the man who lives in the condo below us. Maybe mom should go down and explain to him that at times his ceiling is not in endanger of falling down.

Another good spot

Just discovered this great sleep hidaway. Seems like everytime I turn around there is another comfy bed.

Mom here: Well, yesterday there was a lot of hissing but added to the mix is head bopping. Even one or two brief kitty kisses that didn't end in hissing. It's been less than 72 hours so I still have to be patient. Minchie slept all night on the top of the cat tree. Woke up once and Laila was under the sheet right up next to me. Now, that's a first!

Breakfast treats

WOW! First thing mom does when she gets up is give us our breakfast treats. Not bad! Think I'm really gonna like living here!

Laila had already scarfed down her treats and was such a big help taking care of the ones I dropped on the floor.

Mom here. It went well last evening. Some hissing/growling mostly on Laila's part, but she's just telling him like it is and she's the alpha kitty here. Once in a while Minchie talks back to her. Decided to leave the bedroom door open and it went very well. Didn't hear any horrible cat fights going on. A few times woke up and Minchie was conked out on the bed with me. Laila generally doesn't come up until around 5:00 am so when she did there was a little hissing then, but it went well considering they've only been around each other less than 48 hours. I'm so happy Minchie is here and he's such a love. It won't be long before the two of them will be bonded forever. Last night I was in the recliner watching tv and he was on my lap. It was hysterical! He was sort of laying on his back with his legs up in the air and looked just like petrified road kill! I couldn't stop laughing! Where's a camera when you need one? I'll be sure it's next to me in the future when I sit there.

Minchie's first Mancat Monday

I really luvs my new furever home! It's like a kitty amusement park. Got to sleep with mommie last night and she really appreciated the back massages I was giving her throughout the night. For some reason she's going to be drinking a lot of coffee today. I even jumped the double gates in the doorway with no trouble at all.

Laila and I are starting to get a little closer. I really think she and I are going to end up good buddies in time.

Closer still. Laila is laying where the litter boxes usually are. Mom has them strategically placed for now.

Laila came out...

...and there was quite the hissing going on but each keeping their distance. This is normal we know and it will just take some time. But when I'm not here they will definitely be separated. I feel so bad for Laila.

He's here!!!

Mom here. Minchie has taken to our place like a fish to water! He's totally, 100% comfortable here! It's extremely difficult to type as he keeps jumping up on my lap and trying to get my undivided attention. When I brought him in I placed him on the living room floor and just waited for Laila to come over. She was very curious and they sniffed each other a lot through the mesh of the carrier then all of a sudden she hissed at him and steered clear. Where is she now?

Minchie knows Laila is under the couch and is waiting for her to come out and play. In time.
