This is Mom Peggy stealing the blog today to let everyone know what Minchie has been going through since his Feb. 12th semi-annual exam. Blood work came back with some questionable results so he had an ultrasound which showed his intestines thick and large. IBD (Inflammatory bowel disease)
mesenteric lymph nodes enlarged (many of them), possibly and probably lymphoma. Cause of
weight loss. No masses found. Surgery/biopsy only way to tell.
Don't want to put him through that at his age and weight loss. Can assume
it is cancer and will go on cancer drug chloranbucil
compounded before he gets into trouble. He also is getting B12 shots once a month which I give him.
He has been on the cancer drug since April 27 and after 14 doses (once every three days) he gradually stopped eating. Loss of appetite is one of the side effects. Until then he was eating many, many times a day. He's still drinking water, which is very good. Going to call today to have them prescribe an appetite stimulant. He's losing weight and just looks awful. I've been force feeding him, which he fights me on but I do my best.
Kept putting off telling everyone but feel now is the time. Just keep my little mancat in your prayers and purrs. Thanks!
Oh no, I'm so so sorry. How stressful for you! If we can do anything please let us know. Sending love and purrs.
ReplyDeleteOh Minchie we are purring overtime here for you to feel better little Man!

Oh, we are all sending positive thoughts, purrs, hugs and paws to Minchie. Since Smokey had small intestinal cancer, he was also on Prednisolone along with Chlorambucil and he ate like a pig. He was always eating. He initially was put on the prednisolone because of his puking, but then we found out about his cancer. Well, and over the years we added flagyl and metoclopramide. Hugs to you and Minchie.
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to read this. We do hope Minchie will get something to get his appetite back. Know you are greatly concerned about him. Sending hugs!
