Lake Michigan is about 24 miles due east of us here at our house. This picture happens a lot. Lots of clouds over Lake Michigan. These can also cause what is known as lake affect snow. Advantage to living out in the 'burbs!
Why come are you giving your mom the back of disrespect, Mr. Minchie? Our mom saw lake effect snow once in Milwaukee - she loved it! Of course, she said it was just like regular snow to her, so we don't see what the big deal is.
