No greater love does a Mom have than taking down her beautiful Christmas tree two years ago a week after it went up and giving the tree, lights and garland away...
...because her sweet, baby feral kitten, Laila, was terrified of it and wouldn't go into any room it could be seen from. Well, this year she decided to try a little 2 1/2 foot tree. Mom was in the recliner when Laila jumped up next to her. Laila soon spotted the tree and within a minute tore out of the room, terrified. So, the next morning Mom took the tree away. She carried Laila, freaking out all the way, to the desk to show her the tree was gone. Then put her on the floor where Laila ran around looking all over to see what the tree had gone to. Satisfied that it was gone, she was a happy little girl once again. Now Mom is stuck with dozens and dozens of cat ornaments.
MOL, that is funny! It is probably not nice that your human told on you about your little quirk, Laila!
ReplyDeleteAw, poor Laila. We wonder what it is that scares her so much, even with a tiny tabletop tree.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you decorate with the ornaments in some other way? Hang them (high) from curtain rods if they don't weigh much or get some thin ribbon and hang them as "garland?"
Pick up a lighted garland and hang it and then decorate with your ornaments - just might work!
ReplyDeleteAw, Laila, poor thing. Do you have a porch you can put a tree on instead?
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny. Laila must have had a terrible experience with a tree in her past?

We've had cats afraid of the big tree but never a little tiny one!
ReplyDeleteMEOW!
ReplyDeleteLaila we knew yu were afraid of the big tree your mom loved so much but we never dreamed yu would be scared of a tiny one. Mom just put the skirt under our tree so it shouldn't be long before I will be laying under it like last year. Really sorry yu couldn't enjoy such a beautiful tree your mom had which she gave away to be put up in the office she worked in.
Mucho purrs, Kiddy
That is the ultimate sacrifice but makes you wonder what happened to that little mite to make her so afraid of the trees. Hugs GJ x
ReplyDeletePoor Laila, we are glad your Mom loves you so much and decided to do away with the tree.
ReplyDeleteMaybe in her feral past she had to run for her life up a tree and associates trees with that terror. Poor Laila.
ReplyDeleteyou are TRULY a self-less and caring Mama....as Kea said I wonder what scares Laila so much about the tree?
ReplyDeleteSo funny!! Laila, did you have a bad experience with a tree?? Your mom really loves you!!
ReplyDeleteOoo! Sounds like your Christmas tree is evil! I don't mind mine. My Abbey hangs decorations that I can bash at the bottom - fun!
ReplyDeleteNo greater love indeed! Shows the human staff has priorities straight. If the cat ain't happy... :-)
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a cat so terrified of trees. I wonder what makes her so. Did she have some tree trauma as a wee baby? I wonder the same about Leo and plastic bags. He runs at the sound. I've often wondered if someone stuck him in one as a kitten and dumped him. If they did, he escaped and found me. Sorry you can't have a tree for Christmas, but I'd do the same and get rid of it. Laila being able to live without fear far outweighs some old Christmas tree.
