Happy 4th of July

Wishing all of our American friends a Happy 4th of July and especially a very safe one!

Construction Update

Well, here is the new section of pipe.  It was an extremely stressful day for us.  The smell of the blow torch was stinking up the house something awful.  Then about ten minutes after Eddie left when he was done, the bedroom started filling up with smoke and Mom was freaking big time!  Eddie was doing something down in the garage with the pipes that set off the smoke.  He kept reassuring us everything was okay.  So we had fans in the windows blowing the smoke outside.

 

Minchie was so freaked out that he found safety under the dining room table.  Notice that Laila is nowhere to be found in any of these pictures.  She sought refuge under her couch the whole time.  Mom wanted to crawl under there with her.

They say when there is smoke or fire, to stay close to the ground.  Minchie found a great place to wait out the smoke going away.

So, until Eddie comes back next week on Thursday to repair our bedroom wall, Mom taped up all the holes.  In a few days we'll be turning our a/c back on and she didn't want our cool air to escape. 

Under Construction

Yesterday our maintenance man, Eddie, knocked on our door and said that a leak in the underground parking garage here was coming from a pipe in the wall of our bedroom.   So he cut a hole and could feel wet.  :(

 

So Minchie stood guard while Eddie went to the condo upstairs to make sure the leak wasn't coming from there.  No such luck!  :(

 So Eddie cut an even bigger hole up higher and found the pipe that was leaking.  He said it probably was leaking for years due to the building settling.  :(

So, Minchie is checking things out getting ready to snoopervise Eddie today while he replaces the pipe.  He will also tape cardboard around the holes so Mr. Curious doesn't try to take a tour of the inside walls.  Then he will come back next week to replace the drywall when he sees that the leaking has stopped.  Eddie really likes Minchie, who helps him with all the a/c preventative maintenance and other repairs we need done.

Anyone who has seen pictures of Mom's bedroom knows how obsessed she is with Marie from the movie "The Aristocats".  Well, they are all packed up in plastic bags until this project is finished.

Please keep your paws crossed this stops the leaking or who knows what will happen next!

Marigold was one of the three surviving kitties from Rose and the Royals after Mom Rose died on February 10, 2013. Mom ML and the CB (and CWB) banded together to rescue Marigold and her siblings from a shelter. Marigold and Brutus went to live with Mom Laura.  Unfortunately, Marigold developed Wet FIP and was helped to the bridge on June 16, 2013. Mom Laura has many vet bills from the numerous tests, treatments, vet boarding, and euthanasia. You can visit Mom Laura at Heaven Sent.
