Thankful Thursday

We are very thankful for this warm, comfy bed to hang out in especially today.  As of a few hours ago, we have had 13+ inches/330.2 mm of snow with more coming down right now and more expected later.

We are also very thankful Mom doesn't have to go out in it today.  We live in the Chicago suburbs, about 30 miles from Lake Michigan and this snow is what they call "lake effect snow".   Mom's ancient digital camera doesn't capture how heavy it's coming down.

We also heard that our landscaping company has not been here since the snow started New Year's Eve in the afternoon to shovel.

  1. Oh, man...Winter sucks. Good thing your mom can stay home today. Ours toddled off to work, in our minus 36 Celsius windchills. This is ridiculous.

Stay safe and warm and cosy, everyone!

  2. Yeah, we've been getting plenty of lake-effect snow here too (Milwaukee area). What a winter, and it's only January 2. Sigh.

  6. I am glad we don't often get snow here, but we are getting too much rain instead. We are under yet another severe category red storm and flood warning for our area in the early hours of the morning. Luckily we live on high ground so the flooding shouldn't affect us too much.

  7. Wow! You got more than us! We got around 7-8 inches but the snow's been drifting so in some places it's more than a foot high.

  9. Ha! We got all of one inch from this. At least you don't need to shovel.
