We should have posted this picture yesterday to show that the hallway Minchie escaped into looked like this and not on the outside of the building. This is a picture taken of our sister-who-went-before-us, Lilly, when she was yelling for our neighbor across the hall to open his door.

Laila here. The other night a neighbor of ours (who is allergic to kitties) was talking to Mom at the front door for a long time. Minchie was standing there putting his two cents in (it was our dinnertime) when all of a sudden he bolted out the door! Luckily we live in a condo so he just escaped out into the hallway. Mom was trying to catch him but he kept running away from her but then he finally founded our door again and ran back inside. Mom and her friend were laughing lots. Mom's main concern was the neighbor not start sneezing up a storm, which she didn't.

R.I.P. Scarlett

NEW YORK — Scarlett, the calico cat who made international headlines in 1996 when she repeatedly ran into a burning building to rescue her five kittens, has died.

This book was Mom's "coffee table" book for many years. We will light a candle for Scarlett tonight. What a heroic catmom she was risking her own life to save all her babies.

The mousies from Georgia are very colorful. And Napoleon sent us a card with his sister, Georgia, who went to the Bridge last year.

Thank you, Napoleon, for all these wonderful mousies! That was so sweet of you to share them with us Yankees.

For some reason Mom is infatuated with the back of my head. It is rather large and the cool tiger stripes make her heart go pitter-patter-pitter-patter.

Easy like Sunday morning

We decided to give mom a well deserved 28 hours off Friday afternoon through last night. She packed up her scrapbooking project (still working on those June 2007 Ireland pictures!) and headed to this house in Kingston, Illinois. This is one of her favorite places to go. No phones. No tv. Just nature in all it's glory. In fact, Friday night a skunk visited the property and let them know his displeasure at them being there. All the women were going "eee-uuu!" and jumping up quick to close all the windows. It sure is great to have our mom back!

Meet Shrek. He is one of the Buddy Foundation residents mom goes to visit and play with. The day she went to pick up Minchie to take him to his forever home is when mom first met him. If she hadn't brought Minchie home, Shrek would have been my new brother. He comes to greet her and sits on her lap and lets her do anything to him.

Yesterday she took a picture of him sitting next to her on his couch.

He was a tired boy after all that playing. Isn't he a cutie!

Mom went downstairs to our Auntie Dee's condo last night to feed Angel while his mommie is away overnight. Well, he loves to be brushed, so this is what she got out of him.

Mom just found out our sister, Lilly, who went to the Bridge in June, made it on stuffonmycat.com posthumously. We still miss her so much!

Thankful Thursday

Mom ordered me two cans of my favorite treats, Kitty Kaviar! She found them online and this can costs the same as the can at Petsmart that is half the amount. Thank you mommie! I'm also thankful that Minchie doesn't like them. They are all for ME!
