Missing Our Mancat

This was probably Minchie's favorite spot to snooze.

Mom just can't bring herself to move his blankie or wash it, so here it stays probably forever.  I'm not really into fleece blankies, so it just sits there with wonderful memories of my brother.

It has been over three months now since Minchie ran off to the Bridge and our hearts are still broken and missing him so much.

  1. We suspect that he still is there, it's just that you can't see him now. That's no real comfort, though--we understand that. Hugs and purrs to you both. ♥

  2. Odd, we started a comment and it went away. We expect your hearts will be hurting for a long time. Minchie was a special cat. We are glad your Mama has you though, to help her through it.

  3. There is no timetable on moving things. Chucky's last woolie sock still sits on top of the pool table where he left it, and we are coming up on a year soon. Sending hugs and purrs.

  4. I am too sentimental, and would leave his things where they are. It is sadder if you move them I think. Sometimes when you are not thinking about it, and walk past, you might catch sight of him out of the corner of your eye. I believe that. I don't think they leave until they are sure you are all right.

  6. Minchie is still there with you all. He is happy that he can still go to his favorite sleeping spot whenever he can. We hope you are doing alright today. He will be waiting at the bridge for you one day to see all the friends that he made.

  7. We have the same problem here. It will be three years for us next month and I still cry. There are things we left too. I'm guessing that won't change either.

Have a blessed day. Big healing hugs. ❤

  8. I know the feeling, truly I do. Abby used to sit and curl up in the DR chair I could see from the kitchen. I tried putting a new throw over the chair (that was a bad move as the throw somehow glued itself to the chair) and I put an old curled up tuxedo kitty (stuffed cat) in the chair and tried to fool my eye into thinking just for a second it was still her. I eventually just moved the entire chair out of sight of the kitchen but that was four years later. But I removed the throw but i put the sleeping cat back in the chair seat. It's still her chair and always will be. Just as that fleece blanket belongs to your sweet Minchie.

  11. Not moving or washing it is not only helping you, but also Laila. She can certainly still catch his scent - as well as seeing him.

  13. Of course you miss him. He was part of your life, but he lives on in your heart.
There is an old donkey jacket in our airing cupboard and one of the cats who came before used to get on the shelf to sleep on it. A few months after he went to the Bridge I was sorting out and saw the coat with a very thick coating of white fur. It is still in the airing cupboard 25 years later. Have thought to remove it several times but never had the heart to.

  15. Aww, I think it's sweet that you're leaving it there. I left Truffles bedding just as she left it until Mudpie arrived.

  18. We are sorry. I understand that some things are too difficult to change. It's been four years but I still have Tucker's extra-large carrier and I can't bear to part with it, even though our kitties are way too small for it.

  19. TBT puts small important things in the hole in the flowerbed where our bodies go when we are done with them, gives some things we wont use anymore to the shelter, and keeps a few things in a special box he has. But most things he keeps because we all tend to share stuff. He says it gets tricky sometimes, but it isnt a decision he has to make often.

Something he noticed when a new kitty joins our family after one has left, is that the new kitty tends to use the items of the previous one. He assumes that since it doesn't smell like the established kitties, it is safe to use, AND has the scent of approval from another kitty.

  20. sending you love and (((hugs))) you didn't know that Bobo's bed is in our bedroom, just where it was when he went to the Bridge in 2007. It's strange, Cody NEVER uses that bed.......xoxo
