For those of you not on Facebook, Minchie tore the ACL in his left back knee. For
now pain meds for 5 days and feline joint gel every day. Will
re-evaluate after 2 weeks. Conservative treatments for now. Foot OK.
They trimmed his nails and back one looks fine now. He's still limping. They don't recommend surgery for him as he's 10 years old so we're hoping we can keep him comfortable. They also want us to discourage him from jumping. Hahaha! How do you keep a very active Turkish Angora from doing that when that is one thing they are known for.
Thank you everyone for your purrs, prayers and get well and healing wishes!
Oh, no! We thought it was just a claw issue. :-(
ReplyDeleteHealing purrs and purrayers from us, and comforting smooches and cuddles from our human.
That is too bad. And LOL about the jumping--just how do you do that with a cat? We hope he can heal and feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteWe hope Minchie will be feeling a lot better soon - best of luck with the no jumping rule!

ReplyDeleteIs that the same thing that happened to me last year? You know, when I had to have my knee bionicized? I ripped all the ligaments in my right knee and had to have 'em replaced.
ReplyDeletePeeps kept me from jumpin' by puttin' me in a crate when unattended which I did NOT like one single bit. But that was just for the recuperation time. I'm hopin' Minchie won't have to be kept from jumpin' for very long.
Healin' purrs are on their way!
Purrs,
Nissy
Minchie, you have our biggest purrs coming your way! Maybe a few extra treats on the floor could help convince you to stay low.
ReplyDeleteSending you purrs that you heal quickly Minchie.
ReplyDeleteWe hope your ACL heals quickly, Minchie!
ReplyDeleteThe head peep had a funny conversation with a vet once about keeping a cat from jumping. The vet suggested putting one of the cats who came before in the bathroom to prevent her jumping up on things. The head peep said, without thinking, "I don't know about your bathroom, but mine has a toilet and counter, and she's not going to stay down from those." Getting a kitty to rest is tough!
Poor Minchie. We hope you heal quickly. The mom knows all about trying to keep a cat from jumping. When Ernie's back was hurting, the vet told her to keep him from jumping. Ha! Like that was gonna happen.
ReplyDeleteNot jump? For a cat, that is just crazy asking us not to jump.
ReplyDeletePoor Minchie, that must have hurt. Just rest up on the laundry pile big fella and you will be right as rain. I am sending you lots of purrs to help you heal

Oh no poor Minchie! You are right, how do you discourage a cat from doing all of that? Praying he gets well soon. I am on Facebook but rarely have the time to visit the hundreds of folks that I follow. Thanks for the update! xoxo Sending healing purrs and prayers!
ReplyDeleteOh Dang! Hope that it heals on it's own. Will keep up and keep up the healing purrs and prayers!
