National Feral Cat Day

For many years Mom fed and provided shelter to the feral cats that hung around her office building.

This little trio of kittens were rescued by Mom and her boss in 2003 in the back lot of the office. The little gray one is now our cousin, Gizmo, who lives with Mom's sister.
Gizmo prefers Christmas trees now to outside trees.

These are just a few of the many ferals that hung around or visited over the years. The building was sold this summer so the ferals have gone elsewhere. Mom drives down that street often and still looks for her buddies but has never seen one. One of the businesses across the street has quite an elaborate setup for ferals so she donated her leftover food and supplies to them. She really misses them.

  6. That sure is pawesome of your mommy to do that for the ferals! Our next door neighbors tend to the ferals outside by our house, but the go about it all wrong. There's no trap, spay, neuter. And, they just keep breeding! They're cute and all but they're going to get sick with all of the imbreeding going on. Mom would like to help with that department, but we don't really have the green papers to do that right now :o(. This makes her sad, considering there are 14 kittens (ranging from 14 weeks to 6 months). Well, we hope all of your have a GRRR-8 weekend!

  10. Never knew there was actually a "National Feral Cat Day." My dad did the same thing except set up a shelter for them right on his front porch! Here's my post about missing my dad's feral cats:

  11. That's so great of your mother to help out feral kitties. Let's hope that they found someone else to take care of them as well as she has!

  12. My Lilly Ann was a very feral. When I got her, the lady had to put on plastic gloves ... hissing all the way home .. she was wild to the end but I loved her dearly.

  13. You had a quite a set up for the ferals. We have some living near my home but when people put food out, it attracts rats so it's a bit of a problem

  14. Cool story as for me. It would be great to read something more concerning this matter. The only thing I would like to see here is a few pictures of any gizmos.
