Friday fun

Lilly here! Mom caught me this morning playing in the water bowl. It's been so nice having that bratty little sister afraid of this room and the room with my beautiful Christmas tree I feel like a kitten again myself! We're under a winter weather advisory tomorrow so Mom said she'll probably cancel her plans and stay home with us and finish decorating my tree.

The monster is getting even scarier!

I accidentally ran into the dining room and out of the corner of my eye I saw the monster in the living room ablaze with lights! What is Mom doing? Can she please stop making the monster more scarier? How does she expect me to work up the courage to even look at or go into the living room? I miss my recliner! boohoohoo!

Note from Mom

Yes, that's a Feliway plug in. To the left is a night light I use. Should have removed it for the picture. I got it at Petsmart yesterday. You have to ask for them at the cashier's as they keep them locked up. They aren't cheap ($41.31 total) but if they work, they're worth every dollar. The refill lasts 4 weeks. I hope to remove it once Laila gets up the courage to enter the living room and at least be able to deal with the "monster" being in there. Or maybe I'll leave it. Next time I'll keep her in the bedroom with the door closed. I did this when I had my sliders replaced last summer and she wasn't traumatised by the noise.

What the heck?

Mom came home with this today and plugged it into the outlet in our foyer. She said it will help me be calmer and not to be so afraid of going into the living room. I sure am curious about the smell of this thing. Mom says she can't smell anything but being the superior huntress I am, it's very delightful. So far I haven't worked up the courage to go into the room with the monster in it.

Mom put these colorful shiney things on the monster and now it's even more scarier than before! I can't imagine what else she can put on it to make it any scarier, can you?

The two talking cats

Tree update

I still won't go into the living room with the monster but Mom said she's gonna start putting the lights on it tonight. Yeah, that's it, make it even MORE scarier!

Mom is at wits end with me

Mom is mad at me because I freak out big time when she tries to take me into the room with the monster tree in it. This morning she even took it all apart and just left the top standing but I'm still afraid. I'm hoping she'll just give in and put it away for me. She thinks maybe once the light get put on it I'll like it and not be so afraid. She's never heard of a cat doing this. And to think she went out and bought a special spray water bottle to squirt me to keep me out of it. Teeheehee!

From my purrspective

Now, isn't this a terrifying picture? Can you now understand why I'm so afraid? Lilly loves the tree but doesn't she understand it can gobble her up in a flash never to be seen again? Mom informed me this morning that I just have to deal with this for the next 7 weeks because she loves her Christmas tree too much not to have it up. Now I know what is more important to her! Boohoohoo!

I'm such a huge scaredy cat!!!

Here is the huge box that has our Christmas tree in it. Mom brought it out of hiding yesterday and I was very curious as to what was inside. Well, she started taking out these huge noisy branches and it about scared the pants (if I wore them!) off me! I was so terrified I wouldn't come out in the living room and haven't since then. One time I forgot and did come out, took one look at it and ran for the bedroom! Then Mom put a new Christmas rug in the kitchen and I'm terrified of that too and won't go in there where the food is so Mom was getting worried I would waste away to nothing, so she put the rug away. She doesn't know what to do. Should she put the tree away and not decorate it this year or wait and see if I get use to it and eventually come out and explore. I know it takes me a bit to get use to things and she's been very patient and understanding with me since she adopted me since I'm such a whimp.

This is where Mom moved my cat tree to make room for that scary ol' tree. I really like having it in the bedroom. I can still lay on it and look out a window and it's nice and close to the heat register so I stay nice and warm. Last night I even crawled under the covers to sleep next to Mom to help keep her warm. This was the first time I ever did that and Mom was so surprised! Maybe I'll do it more often as she really seemed to like it.

My first snow!

Well, it doesn't show up here but there were lots of little snow flurries speeding by the window yesterday morning, something I'd never seen before! They were so cool! I had a lot of fun watching them and batting at them as they flew by. Mom said the Corn Cats sent them to us and that we were suppose to get one to three inches of the floofy stuff, but as happens a lot here in Chicago, the weathermen lied!

We want to thank everycat for their Thanksgiving wishes and we hope you all had a great day. Mom didn't bring leftovers home but she promised to tonight when she goes to our cousins for another turkey dinner.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

We are wishing all our furriends here in America a Happy Thanksgiving and that we are so thankful we have all of you as our new found furriends. And that also goes to all our International furriends too! Momma is going to a turkey feast today and tomorrow so she said we will be having turkey leftovers coming out of our ears. That kind of scares me! But she promised to share some with me and Lilly. I'm kind of curious to find out what it tastes like since I've never had it before. I know I will because Mom says I'm her little furry garbage disposal.

Meet Bebe

Got an email from a gal I know who fosters for The Buddy Foundation.

"Last night Tommy and I were out shopping. As we walked towards Bed, Bath & Beyond, we heard meowing. Turns out there was a 6-8 week old kitten hiding in a drain pipe. After unsuccessfully trying to coax it out for awhile, I ran to a nearby pet store to buy some canned food, but it was closed. Tommy walked to a nearby restaurant where they gave him a bit of tuna which he was able to use to coax the kitten out of the pipe. She's a real cutie. I'm calling her Bebe. We'll get her to the vet in the next couple of days and foster her until she gets adopted."

When I asked which BB&B:

"Across from Deer Park at Rand and Long Grove Rds. When we went into BB&B they said that the police had been there Friday and Saturday trying to get him out, but couldn't. Tommy was going to try to take the pipe off the building, but didn't have a screw driver and BB&B said they didn't have one, which we both found very hard to believe. One woman behind the Customer Service Counter said we should just leave it be because it had chosen to live there. That really made me angry. She had no clue. It's like leaving a baby out in the cold. Plus we would have to worry about other predators. So when Tommy finally got a hold of the kitten, I had him walk into the store and show the kitten to the girls that had tried to help us and also this idiot lady.

Anyway, I'm waiting for Mary to call me so I can get approval to make Bebe an official foster of Buddy so we can take her to the vet and get her checked out. We already checked for fleas and ear mites and she looks good other than a bit of dirt in her ears. I would guess she'll need deworming and I need her checked for Fe-luk and FIV to make sure she doesn't give our other fosters anything.

I made a flyer and Tommy took them up to BB&B to hang there and at some of the neighboring stores to see if anyone might be interested in adopting her. A lot of people had heard her meowing. He's also going to check around just a bit to see if there are any others nearby. We didn't hear or see any last night, but Mom may have moved them.
Kudos to Debbi and Tommy for going above and beyond!

My first ice cube

I don't know why Mom waited until a day in the 40's to give me my first ice cube. Interesting but no taste. Maybe if she added some tuna juice?

I think I look like a clown!

Why Momma would torture me like this I'll never know. What did I do wrong?

Maybe it's a kitty choker?

I must admit I do look rather cute in it.

After Mom put this silly thing on me I ran all around trying to figure out how to get this thing off my neck. And the little ringing bells were scaring and driving me crazy. However, I must admit after about five minutes I just gave in and ignored it and rather liked it. I must have looked darling as Mom followed me all over with that flashy box taking pictures.

Tunnels of fun!

Here you can see where Mom has clipped four tunnels together to make one big one for me!

Thanks Mom! I love my tunnel and have lots of fun with it running in and out all day and even snoozing in it.

Our 200th post!

One reason why there is litter all over the house.

Got to steer clear of the stinky poopies.

For the past two mornings I've been hanging out in the litter boxes and like to watch while Mom curls her hair. She thinks it a bit strange. Hey, I'm a cat! That's what we do!

We would like to wish our human cousin, Katie, a very happy birthday today! We're sure Bonnie and Bailey will treat her like a Queen today.

My bootiful floofy tail

Mom took pictures of my bootiful floofy tail just for Daisy because she didn't realize just how floofy it was. I spend hours cleaning and grooming it so it is in tip top shape everyday and Mom combs it for me everyday too. She says it reminds her of a this and threatens to put me to work helping with the dusting here.

Bath time!

This is now my new favorite place to hang out. I spent a lot of time here with Mom Sunday while we were nursing her cold. She even covers me up with the blankie so I stay nice and snuggly warm.

Roomba video

For about a month now I've been trying to see if I can get Roomba in the front door of the office. So far he's just very leary of coming in preferring to stay on the safe outside of his territory

Lilly doesn't smell like herself

Hmmmm...something isn't right with Lilly.

Are you sure you brought back the right cat from the V-E-T?

Guess I have to believe Mom when she assures me this is my sister.

Mom: Lilly went to the vet for blood work to check her bun and creatnine levels. We won't know the results until Monday, but Dr. Jen said she was sure they were okay as she looked great and had gained another 2 pounds. She's now up to 13 pounds from the 9 she got down to a year ago from her top weight of 15.

Roomba update

This is where Roomba hangs out a lot during the day, and night I'd assume.

He curls up in this spot and, it's hard to see here, but there's a nice indentation .

Staying nice and warm and cozy.

Don't fall in!

Maybe if I lay here real quiet Mom won't see me.

Our service is suffering just a little with Mom having her cold. She just isn't playing with me in the evenings like she usually does with my "da bird" toy. That's okay though. She promised to make it up to me when she feels better. So instead I'm making Lilly's life a living you know what! teeheehee!

Monster kitty

Great close up Mom!

Poor Mom! She has a cold. I sure hope she doesn't pass her nasty germs to me! Worse, I hope our service here doesn't suffer because of it. I'm still too young to fend for myself. She has these nasty smelling tissues for her runny nose. I think she bought them on purpose so I would leave them alone and not eat them.

Pink makes everything feel all better

Thanks to Auntie Holly and the boys this wonderful cat bed is just what the doctor ordered to rest my naked tummy on while my silky furs are growing back. Lilly usually claims this bed but, being the nice sister she is, she has been letting me lay in it when I need some pampering.

Mancat Magazine centerfold shot

Here I am in all my tummy nakedness. Boy, it sure does feel good to get that tube sock off!!! I was a very good girl at the V-E-T yesterday. For once it wasn't a scary ordeal! And it only took Mom two times to get me in the PTU. The first time I slipped my silky furs through her fingers and escaped but she enticed me back with treats. Fall for it every time! She's getting pretty good at getting me in there! Think I heard somewhere that she has a PhD in cat management.

Rare moment

Here I am on Lilly's shelf. Mom was very surprised Lilly let me on and even more surprised that she let me stay awhile!

I go to the V-E-T today to get my stitches out. I can't wait! Mom said she might cut this awful tube sock off me before I go so I don't look so scruffy. I will be very busy the rest of the day bathing my naked belly.

007 kitty

Here I am spying on Mom in the bathroom. Hehehe!

Mom was out most of the day with her sister and every once in a while she'd stop the car and point to Halloween decorations still up or trees with their leaves still on and turn on that radio station that is playing the Christmas music and they would laugh until they had tears in their eyes. These humans are a bit strange at times! Mom says we have a 6 1/2 foot Christmas tree that she isn't sure she's going to put up this year because of me. But what she thinks she'll do is put it up with nothing on it and let it stand for a few days and see if it stays upright. Very funny Mom!

Our little game

Every morning Lilly and I play our little swatting game with each other. I think I may be starting to win her over a little.

Mom came home yesterday totally confused. A radio station here in Chicago started playing Christmas music November 1st. She just doesn't understand how that can happen because there are a lot of trees here that haven't even begun to change color!!! Did Mother Nature forget to get the trees ready for their winter hibernation? She absolutely refuses to listen to that station until the day after Thanksgiving. And she says all the stores are decorated for Christmas and have been

Reconfigured

Because my furs are so silky soft and slippery, Mom decided to put one of her knee high nylons over my tube sock as extra insurance to protect my belly nakedness. Like Momma always says, it's so hard being a girl!

Thursday, November 1, 2007

AHHH!!! FREEDOM!

Mom worked a long time getting me set up for not wearing that horrible contraption on my head and with lots of sweat, struggling and crying and hissing on my part, we got my tube sock on so that my stitches won't show and be a temptation for me. Well, I spent the better part of the evening bathing as you can imagine how dirty I was from almost a week of no bath, plus that stinky V-E-T smell was still on me. It's so nice to run around again and eat with no problem. Thanks Mom!!!
